Bobby Drake had already had a crazy morning. At breakfast, he had to play the knight in shining armor for a girl who was being picking on by a bully who could turn his body into solid rock. The bully tried to embarrass Bobby too, but fortunately Ororo Munroe broke it up. Despite Bobby's valiance, both were assigned detention that evening while the rest of the students would be about the school enjoying recreational activities. The bully actually protested more than Bobby did. The guy was definitely future Brotherhood material.
So now in a bad mood, he walked toward the Danger Room. Part of him hoped said bad mood would not back-fire on him today, but at the same time, perhaps the aggression would help sharpen his skills and abilities. He knew he could do more with his powers than he had so far. Some said he had the potential to become immortal. He highly doubted that, and plus he didn't want to be immortal. He just wanted to be Bobby Drake... hero... New Mutant... future member of the X-Men.
At least the crew he was about to go into the Danger Room with was a good one. There would be no jerks in it like Mr. Rock-Solid Scumbag. Bobby knew the importance of working as a team. Everyone at the school, and particularly those on the verge of being X-Men, had great abilities gifted to them from birth, and many had egos to go along with those abilities. But Xavier and the other instructors had taught them that in many situations, no one mutant could stand alone. He or she had to work together with others. And this was what the Danger Room training was truly all about.

Rahne was going to step in when bobby did, but instead she went and got Ororo Munroe. she didnt want to see anyone get hurt and she thought that was the only thing she could do. she didnt mean to get bobby in to trouble after all he was the one helping out the girl. going on about her day she wondered how bobby was dealing with the whole fighting thing. Bobby was one of Rahnes friends. she liked him as much as she could a best friend he could always put a smile on her face, but maybe today it was her turn to put a smile on his face.
Walking up be hind him she walked up and looked at him. "Hiya Bobby, im sorry about earlier. i hope it wasnt to bad." Rahne didnt know any jokes or anything funny to make the iceman laugh so she thought she would just hope for the best and hope that she could make him feel better. hopefully he wouldnt be to madd with her.
Waiting for the others to show up she wondered what they were going to be doing today. hoping that her other friends showed up as well. then after training she would go out running and maybe she would go swimming, depending if she had time or if she wasnt tired. but she needed to romp and play around so her inner animal wouldnt come out and destroy things. Looking up she smiled.

Jimmy legitimately didn't notice the whole situation with the bully, not because he was being absent-minded or didn't want to, the mutant was just not there for the event itself since he had chosen to skip breakfast. Hudson WAS a regular in detention, though, and usually had boring dumb kids to talk to, thinking that they were bad-boys for being caught and sent to a room after school made them bad and like his old man. So with Bobby being there, he'd at least have someone to look forward to for a good laugh that boring evening. Of course, he only served a half-sentence for an "extended term" on something he'd done months ago.
When he saw the three in the DR before him, a smirk spread across Jimmy's face as he snuck upon the girl, his feet not making a sound as it flew across the hard floor. Then, wrapping his arms around Rahne's middle, Hudson let out a roar and picked her up in an attempt to startle/surprise the young Scottish woman. The roar was certainly a feral one, but it didn't facilitate any particular message other than it seemed to be there for the sole purpose to make noise.
"Hey kids," he then commented at the other two New Mutants, though Rahne was the same age as them he was simply teasing the other two, "you didn't start the party without me did ya'? 'Cuz that would suck if you did." He knew that the simulation wouldn't start without a sufficient number of team members present, but the good-hearted banter was always a good thing for the group of highly volatile mutants.

Bobby Drake calmed a bit when Rahne walked in and apologized to him. He didn't believe she did anything wrong, and didn't want her to think she had done so. Bobby liked Rahne a lot friend-wise. He stepped over and patted her on the shoulder.
"Hey, it's alright," he said. "I'm just glad you're okay. It wasn't right the way that jerk treated you. Hey, let's just forget about, alright? What happened happened and all that. Let's focus on the Danger Room because we both know if you're not focused in there, you get your butt kicked by something." Bobby then smiled when Jimmy walked in. The two had very different looks, styles, and personalities, but he couldn't help but like the guy. As Professor McCoy had taught them in the lab, unlike charges attract. Bobby, Jimmy, and Rahne were quite the trio too. If he ever had to work a mission, he preferred doing said mission with these two.
"Jimmy, the party doesn't start until you show up," he chuckled. "We all know that." A few other students showed up as well and therefore it was time to begin. The simulation was then announced to all of them. It was a new one this time, and a more difficult one. The simulation would be of the legendary Savage Land. Well, it was legendary among mutants anyway. The heroes would all have to reach the top of an ancient tower in the center. It sounded simple enough, which meant it was going to be everything but simple. Bobby turned to his friends and gave a small, encouraging smile.
"Ready to play in the jungle?" he asked before he began walking into the room.

Lockheed was in the Viewing room of the danger room. He was taught by Storm how to use the controls, and how to control it. This was a practice run as Storm was off teaching Cannonball something. Waiting for the members to enter the danger room. He remind himself on what to do. He looked at the entrance to see that the trouble maker Bobby was the first one to arrive. Lockheed had mixed feelings about him mainly because he was honorable, but he was a trouble maker. If you do try, and do something honorable like that you don't get yourself caught. Thats what Lockheed did who could talk perfect english, but didn't because it was more fun to mess with people that day.
The next one to arrive was Rahne. This was a student that Lockheed actually liked she always tried her best, and was a loyal like what they called dogs. But she was a bit of a snitch. The next was the wolf boy who Lockheed didn't like at all. He was rude, always caught in detention, and made Lockheed want to burn his face off just to test that he could regenerate the skin. The only good thing about this kid was that he was a good fighter, but not knowing the rules would make a perfect candidate for the brotherhood. He thought how these 3 would do in the Danger room, and got ready to call Dr. McCoy. He knew something bad was going to happen.
He pressed the intercom button as he started talking what came out was a noise a power growl, and roar like one a dragon would make. He bashed his translator module on his neck as it started working again. "Dam think keeps malfunctioning. Ok Cannonball isn't going to make he is having a private lesson with Storm, and Magik has family issues, and Kitty went with her for support. Seeing you are the only ones who had arrived you won't have your face burnt off, but no promises for you Jimmy, and please put down Rahne before I get angry. Know would you three please enter the Danger Room." His voice was all growly, and sounded like gollum from lord of the rings.

Rahne smiled as Jimmy picked her up. "Hi Jimmy." the girl turned a small shade of red, it was always obvious that Rahne had a crush on Jimmy. Watching as lockhead came up she felt a little weird, like he was out to get them or something, but then again Rahne was scared everyone was out to get her at times. Thanks to Jimmy she was worrying a lot less about the people around her and focusing more on herself. Looking at the others she followed them in and waited. as the danger room changed she started to get excited. it was going to be fun.
When Lockhead told jimmy to put rahne down she turned a even deeper shade of red, she didnt want to be put down but orders were orders. She followed Jimmy and Bobby in to the danger room and watched as the danger room became a place of danger. Rahne looked at Jimmy for leader ship. He was the one most of the younger students looked up to when they were out on a mission, he was their group leader.
Rahne then looked to Bobby and back to Jimmy, then down to the floor. she looked just as shy and nervous as always. Rahne smelled something, it was something that was new to her, letting out a low protective growl. This growl was pretty scary coming from a girl that dont growl unless its true danger or something else. Shifting her eyes around she looked for the strange thing.

"Well, naturally Drake," Jimmy replied to Bobby's comment, "if I didn't show up you kids'd all just be that, a bunch of kids." Saying this all while holding Rahne up, Jimmy playfully kissed the back of the girl's head. He was aware of the crush, and it was a bit fun goofing around with her on that end, there was just something Jimmy was waiting on seeing before he would actually decide on dating the other feral or not.
When told by the purple dragon to put Rahne down, Jimmy only half-obeyed the command. Setting her down on the ground, he still kept his arm around her waist, and smirking up at the camera. As he did so, Hudson held up a fist to the camera before making a muscle contraction in his arm that caused all three claws in that arm to protract from between his knuckles. About half a second later, Hudson manipulated his forearm muscles a second time to draw the outer two claws back in, making an obscene gesture that he'd picked up from his old man Logan.
When the DR activated, Jimmy was slammed with an assault of different smells, so he didn't quite pick up on what to do yet. He recognized the simulation from previous occasions, but let out a growl of annoyance at both the sensory overload and the dragon. "Lockheed, we gonna get an objective for this exercise or just wander around with our dicks in hand?!" He shouted up to the control room, Savage Land had different objectives, and Jimmy himself had run the thing twice with a different goal each time.

(NPCing Hank McCoy instead of Bobby for this rotation)
From the control room above, Dr. Hank McCoy watched as everyone entered. Unlike Lockheed, he couldn't help but smile at Jimmy and Rahne. As a lover of romantic literature, he himself was a hopeless romantic. Still, Lockheed had a point. It was Danger Room training and it was time for all the students to focus. This would be their most difficult session yet as in reality The Savage Land was very dangerous and highly unpredictable. Once everyone was ready, Hank addressed them.
"The longest journey is the journey inwards. Of him who has chosen his destiny, who has started upon his quest for the source of his being," he said, quoting the late Swedish author Dag Hammarskjold. "Remember, my friends, this is more than a physical test and opportunity to use your abilities, but a test of your will and spirit. The Savage Land has been the last stand of those far wiser and stronger than you, so be careful, and most important, put aside any ill feelings any of you may have with yourselves or another and work together. And so we begin........"
The illusion of the Savage Land then appeared around the students.
"Do you all see the ancient tower in the center?" asked McCoy. "Your goal is simply to reach the top of that tower. But bare in mind, the inhabitants of the Savage Land are highly protective of this tower, and will stop at nothing to keep intruders away from it. You have one hour to achieve your goal. Begin."

The girl nodded and kept her eyes out for the objects she would be fighting against. what ever they were she didnt like them, they seemed overly protective and dangerous. Then again their was something else about them she didnt like. "Get to the tower, Jimmy do you have a plan. or are we just going for it?" boy did the girl hope that Jimmy had a plan in his head already. they would be toast if they tried doing it alone.
The girl then shifted half way. she looked like what seemed to be a werewolf. She smelled the air and waited for jimmy to give orders. She didnt want to step out of line, something felt like if she did that would cause something that shouldnt be good. besides they were sapost to work as a team. Rahne looked at the rest of the team and saw how they all got ready for the mission. Soon something started to move from the ground. unsure of what it was Rahne watched it closely.
Soon things were coming up from the ground and started heading twords the group holding weapons of great distruction. Rahne couldnt wait for anyone to give orders, her perspective side took over and she ran and fully shifted in to wolf form. Her wolf form was amazingly beautiful, the fur was a reddish brown and as soft as could be, her muscles were stronger and her teeth just made her down right scary. Blaring her teeth as she attacked one of the moving attackers by biting at him. hopefully Rahne wouldnt get in trouble later for her inner wolf mind. In her mind she was protecting her pack of family. The attacker tried to throw the wolf off as he yelled in pain from the bite.

As soon as his enhanced senses had a chance to adjust fully to the completely new setting, even if it was a simulated one. When the smells and sights fully balanced out, to him, a very distinct scent reached his nostrils. His lips pulled back into a snarl as he detected the inhabitants of the place. It was a familiar smell to the young man, and it was one that he wasn't too fond of. The people of The Savage Land stank of dinosaur dung and B.O. from spending too much time away from a river.
When asked about the plan, Jimmy nodded and answered frankly, "Well you have the right idea Wolfsbane, smell for anything, your nose is sharper than mine anyway, Iceman, we'll need to clear this foliage up ahead of us. Use your ice powers to freeze it up for me." The intent of this plan was going to have Hudson at point, busting through the frozen plant-life with his heightened levels of strength, then the other two would play catch-up until they reached the end of the cleared area. This would continue until they hit the clearing that was just shy of their target. But this plan would be cut short.
No sooner had he given the orders to the two were the come upon by the natives. Without a second to waste, Jimmy unsheathed his claws with the familiar ripping sound as blood trailed down his fingers, as the bone tore through the skin that hid them. As this occurred, Rahne leaped on one of them. Not wasting any time, following her lead, Hudson leaped forward with his great agility. Flipping mid-air and hacking his claws at two of them while flying over, he then landed, his claws now having turned to the organic metal.
Swinging them with great ferocity, Hudson roared and called out to Bobby, "CHANGE OF PLAN! WE TAKE CARE OF THESE GUYS THEN WORRY ABOUT THE TOWER IN A MINUTE." With his claws coated in a thin layer of blood, Jimmy began thinking of alternate plans of action. His thinking was usually much better when he was battling, and the idea of using Drake's ice-bridging came to him, that might work. He wasn't sure if Rahne and Hudson could use it, but at the very least he could keep watch for them from attacks like this while the two ferals made slower progress through the underbrush.

Jimmy sounded like he had a good plan. The thing was the creatures of the Savage Land weren't exactly going to play along. Bobby was already in the process of clearing some foliage up when Jimmy yelled there was a change of plan. Bobby looked to see several monstrous beasts coming at them. Bobby went on instinct first, taking down the creatures with ice blasts while Jimmy and Rahne would do their thing. Some of the other students used their abilities as well, but the creatures didn't seem to fear them. It was if the creatures were willing to fight and die to protect the tower. Yes, they were hostile, but it was THEIR home that the New Mutants were invading. Would the X-Men not fight for the school is they were being invaded? Yes it was a program and all, but Bobby wondered just who were the villains here. It was then that a quote Hank McCoy had taught him ran through Bobby's head:
"Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding."- Ralph Waldo Emerson. Bobby also recalled what McCoy said to all of them before the program had begun:
"Remember, my friends, this is more than a physical test and opportunity to use your abilities, but a test of your will and spirit."
As Bobby caught on to Jimmy's idea about the ice bridge and formed it, he wondered if the idea swimming through his own head would work... and if he would have a chance to try it.

Phoenix had been given a power-inhibitor for her wrist to negate telepathy. It was only natural they would do this, with her power she would have been able to steam-roll the entire exercise by just sending a few psy-blasts. Of course, it wouldn't actually stop her from using these powers completely, it was just a little road-block to remind her to refrain from the use of said power.
Picking up two of them with her telekinesis, she then pulled the natives into her fist, keeping up a forcefield so that the strength of her attack didn't hurt herself when fists met face.
Meanwhile, veins of metal were protruding from the ground and slamming into unoccupied men. Generally in the gut and other fleshy parts. Using her magnetokinesis to fully manipulate the metal, she liquified what came up and formed it around herself, crafting a makeshift suit of armor that would serve protection from the lobbed spears that would certainly be headed their direction soon.
Putting down another foe with a quick slash to the back, Hudson shouted to Grey, "Phoenix! Grab Ice Man and fly up so he can get started on the ice bridge!! We seriously need to get out of here before any more of these things start showing up!"
Nodding at the team leader, Rachel picked up Bobby with her powers and said, "stay cool kid, we're gonna need you to not get air-sick all of a sudden, how long do you need to get it going well?" Placing a force-field around his head just in case thin air was a problem for him, Rachel pushed through a little, cheating slightly, to establish a link. They didn't want her using the powers against enemies so "technically" she wasn't cheating. She hoped Drake still wouldn't rat out to her dad or someone though.

Bobby still hoped his idea would work, and he would be able to pull it off, when Phoenix pulled him up to help make the ice bridge. He did so, but after completing it, he shook his head. What Hank had said had really gotten to him now. He looked up at Rachel, and then at the other two.
"Everyone, wait!" he said. "Didn't you hear what Professor McCoy said? This isn't just a test for our powers. It's a test of our spirit too. Look at the scenario we've been placed in. This is not our home. We are not the ones under attack. These mutants and other creatures are not fighting us because they want to. They're fighting us to defend their home, and will continue fighting until they can fight no longer. Look at us. We're future X-Men! Is this what we're going to be doing when the time comes? Invading the territory of innocents and assaulting them just because they are trying to keep us from trespassing into a tower that doesn't belong to us? Don't you all see what the real test is here? We're not supposed to fight these creatures in order to get to the tower. We're to do what the professors have been teaching us to do concerning the humans who hate us... make peace with them. Rachel, please put me down. I'm going to talk to the leader of this group. I hope it isn't too late or we've all failed this mission."
