Angelica was alone in the workshop with a small hammer in her hand and a chisel and was looking to a big marble block. The summer dance was getting near and the teachers assigned the red haired girl the duty of make an sculpture for the party. Angelica was happy as this would be a chance to do something fun and that she liked and the other students could appreciate it.
At first she thought of making an ice sculpture, but with all the heat and the lights it would only last an hour or something like that and she wouldn't ask Bobby to use his powers to make the ice sculpture to last more. He wasn't a freezer. So after a lot of thinking about it, she decided to use marble. It was a classic, resistant and wasn't very heavy to carry unlike the granite.
This was the first day she would start working in the sculpture, but she didn't know what to do. Maybe she could ask the other students what they would like to see in an sculpture for the summer dance. She walked around the marble block, trying to find a good idea, but nothing came out of her mind. "Great...now I'm having an artistic block..."muttered to herself.

Jimmy was in the workshop too, but he was participating in two completely different activities. One of those was puffing on a cigarette that hung loosely from his mouth, the other, was working on a small piece of machinery with some specialized tools. The piece was part of a mini-bike that he was fixing for one of the kids. Hudson always needed an excuse to bust out his tools, and it was interesting to see how a miniaturized version of his own bike parts operated. Hudson worked on the piece outside of the garage today because this was more delicate work than normal, and all the noise and swearing in the garage wouldn't work too well in his favor.
Taking a long draw from the cancer-stick, and blowing a pretty large cloud of tobacco-smoke, Hudson smirked over how he could maintain the habit without health risks that the habit was usually associated with. He then heard the mutterings of a certain pyro from his team, and it occurred to the young man that he had been in there for forever and likely wasn't the only one present anymore.
"Well, that's just a suckish thing to have." He commented as he came around the corner of a particularly large statue that had been cloaking Jimmy from sight, the cig still hanging loosely from his mouth. "What, the mayor of douche-ton ask you to make something for his clones to admire but still somehow claim credit for?" The people to who he was referring being Scott Summers and the majority of the student body respectively, Jim was not a big fan of most people, especially not the Hellions, but the New Mutants were all okay.

Angelica examined the block for a while, till she started to smell a strange smell, that she wouldn't expect in the workshop: cigarette smoke. She looked away and saw a blond guy puffing on a cigarette and blowing smoke while working in a piece of machinery. It was Jimmy Hudson, one of her partners in the New Mutants. They hadn't talked too much, but he was a little grumpy, maybe because he had his own issues. Everybody in the school had their own baggage, and it wasn't her right to ask about them. If Jimmy wanted to talk about what troubled him, he would by his own way.
"Afternoon Jimmy"said the red haired girl with a wave of her hand. She was really focused in the sculpture that she didn't realize she wasn't alone. It wasn't a secret that Hudson hated Cyclops, she didn't know why, but she preferred not to ask. "Actually it were Ms. Monroe and Doctor McCoy the ones that asked me to do the sculpture for the summer dance. Cyclops was thinking in buying one trough ebay or something like that"replied Angelica. She didn't understand why the grumpy attitude towards her. They were teammates, that meant that they have to trust each other. All the stuff of the lone wolf wouldn't work for a long time. "And in what are you working?"asked Angelica with curiosity.

Jimmy was a grumpy guy, no denying that, but this had preceded his issues. Well, you couldn't really precede his being adopted in terms of issues, but for one thing, he didn't see that as an issue, and another, was that the only "problems" he had came from his mutation and finding out who his father was. Hudson had always had this grumpy demeanor about him. It was just simply another part of his personality.
He felt that he was at least reasonably friendly to his teammates, though. Taking another drag of the cigarette, Jimmy, then said to his friend as she answered the question, "well, that sounds like something I probly' won't be goin' to." Deciding that standing would get old pretty quick, he took a seat more near Angelica so they could have a conversation. She was his teammate, and therefore subject to being more well-liked by the feral than the other students.
Hudson wasn't a lone wolf in his opinion, he just didn't do excessive socializing, which was just part of the him-ness that was him. Returning to tinkering with the small piece, when asked about it, he looked up, then back down to it. "Just a part for someone's mini-bike, they asked me to fix it." His hands operated the tools used to work pretty fluidly, "not particularly delicate, just small and frustrating, that's why I came here and not the garage to work on it."
"So is there something you needed to say?" The feral asked following his answer, "because usually this small-talk means you want to talk about something that you're not actually talking about."

Angelica saw how Jimmy approached and sat down near her. It was a signal that maybe she was wrong about him, and that he wasn't the grumpy anti-social she believed to be. And a part of her could understand if she knew the issues he has with his father. She had the same with her own, she still remembered that the last time she talked with him was the day she moved to the Xavier School.
He then said that he wouldn't probably go to the summer dance, and a part of that made her feel a little sad, but she didn't show it. "You should go, I'm sure that you would get a lot of fun. Besides I believe that Cyclops wouldn't come, I think that he doesn't know what a party or fun could be even if those words slap him in the face"said Angelica with a chuckle as she looked at Jimmy. Maybe they could have fun together in the dance after all.
Angelica smiled by Jimmy's answer of the mini bike. "I wish you good luck with that. I know that you'll fix it soon"said with a nod. She understood why Jimmy came here too, the need of peace. "I doubt that nobody will annoy us for the rest of the evening so you can finish it with calm"replied Angelica as she looked at the block again.
She frowned a little when Jimmy bluntly asked if she wanted to talk about something, but she had to admit she needed a little hand. "Well...I have been thinking in what to sculpt for the party, and I'm out of ideas. Maybe your opinion could help me a little to clear my mind, so what do you think?"asked the red haired mutant as she looked at him. She hoped he didn't give her a very blunt answer.

Jimmy was certainly grumpy, but anti-social was not a word that the hero would use to describe himself. He wasn't the most friendly of people, but, he had a fair number of friends that had been recruited through the team. Other students at the school were okay, but not really part of his favored social circle. Of course, then there were the teachers pets that he found insufferable, and the Hellions that were jerks.
"Well, ya' know how it is, if I go then I'll just end up getting into a fight." It was an honest evaluation, and he realized that participating in such behavior would be unfair to whoever he brought. And him NOT behaving that was was almost incomprehensible in and of itself. Jimmy was simply a confrontational person. Taking another drag of the cigarette and blowing a ring, Hudson then followed up with, "though I must admit that prospect is verrrry tempting."
Jimmy was the mechanic type, and certainly not an artist, so he couldn't really come up with any suggestions as to what she COULD carve. Well, he did have a couple of ideas. But these were a bit racy and inappropriate for school functions, and besides, they were very typical guy thoughts to begin with. "Honestly," James said completely falsely, "I have no idea what you should make out of that block." Tapping the piece against the table firmly, he then set it down and said, "done." With a tone of finality. He'd already been working for a couple hours, so it was a fairly simple prospect.

Angelica nodded. Yes she knew that Jimmy usually got into a lot of fights, but mainly it was because the Hellions were always looking for troubles. They were jerks, and probably they would be perfect candidates for the Brotherhood. "Well if that happens have in mind that I and the other New Mutants will cover your back"said the red haired mutant with a nod. It wasn't a secret that Angelica wasn't a fan of the jerks and the bullies, and the Hellions were both. As she saw how Jimmy blew a smoke ring, she thought that maybe she could make the sculpture as a symbol of the different student squads of the Institute. "See? I think that teachers also had planned that Cyclops doesn't join the party...maybe he would say one of his speech and the party could end when everybody feel asleep"said with a chuckle Angelica.
She nodded when Jimmy said he hadn't any idea. At least he thought about it and wanted to help, that was very good, and meant a lot for Angelica. "Don't worry. Thanks for the talk I think it's giving me a couple of ideas"said with a sincere smile. She saw how he finished with the motor bike. "Congratulations"replied Angelica. "You can stay here and talk if you want, maybe both need a good break"said Angelica as she sat in a stool near Jimmy. In a while she would start working in the block.

Smiling at the offer for help, Jimmy replied with, "I know, and I'm thankful for that, but I think it'll still be better off without a Jimmy Hudson there to get in a fight." He honestly didn't really get why Angelica was so intent on getting Hudson to go along. As far as he knew, most of The New Mutants were along for the trip anyway, and his absence would hardly be missed aside from bringing along the stuff for under-age drinking. He then shrugged at the recommendation that the part end when everyone falls asleep, "what I had planned already ends when I fall asleep anyway.
Leaning back in the chair, and placing his boots upon the table, in a placing that wouldn't slow her working, Jimmy yawned and kept on smoking while he watched the red-head work. "Yeah, I planned on it," At his point he reached into a bag he had brought along and tossed the part back in, before retrieving a sandwich from the bag. Breaking it in half, and tossing the other piece onto the table in front of Angelica, James began chewing on the thing, using his sharp canines to cut through the turkey.
It was a slow day for the young man, as he didn't actually have a whole lot planned for today, so hanging out with Jones would probably be something to do for a few more hours. "So how's the whole population spike sitting with you? I got lost in one of the new cities the other day. I think they called it Gotham."
