Theodore gave one last sigh before entering the Danger Room. For weeks, he had been doing practice sessions with others. Now, he had to go it alone with others watching, the same who would approve him for a place in the New Mutants. Ever since he arrived at the school years ago, he had learned two very important things: How to work with others and how to harness his powers. Now it was time to see how to use his ability of Earth-Manipulation for the good of both human and mutantkind. It was time for him to become a true team player, and for the name Tremble to be more than just a silly nickname lovingly created by his peers at the school.
He stepped into the Danger Room. He was at least comforted in the fact that chosen simulation would apply to his abilities of Earth Manipulation. He hated that word though- "Manipulation". A manipulator was a title that belonged to someone who was cold, who cared little if he hurt other people. Tremble was not like that. While he had always found it hard to make friends, he was loyal to the ones he had. He wished they would come up with a better name for what he could do.
Ready, he looked up and gave a small smile.
"Alright, mates," he said in his British accent. "I'm as ready as I can be I suppose. Start when you're ready." Looking around the room, he wondered what it would turn into this time... and what would awaiting him. Closing his eyes, he focused and prepared to use his abilities.

(Cyclops) "Good," replied a voice from within the control station, that was then broadcast into the DR itself for Tremble to hear clearly. The X-Men Leader spoke clearly and without much emotion in his voice to the teen, feeling that he needed to approach the situation from a completely objective perspective, much like a machine. Otherwise the caring he felt for the boy would come into play and not allow him to accurately analyze the results of the test.
"Today," Scott then continued, "we're going to test your fine power control, some general magnitude gauging, and of course your ability to combat a sentinel." The man then set about to typing in the scenario specs. It was going to be set in a very Grand Canyon-like location, with a nearby mountain range to give something to the student something with more "umph" to work with when the sentinel would be introduced to the simulation.
As he finished the last of the variables being placed in, Cyclops continued to explain to the young man, "the minimum requirement is that you be able to defeat the sentinel on your own, there was once a point in time where it took an entire team of X-men to just down one of them, now most of us can take on at least 3 alone without being defeated ourselves. Naturally, you don't have to destroy the machine necessarily, you can even simply incapacitate it if you can't destroy the machine completely. If you can't effectively destroy it though, realize that this will be taken into account."
When the room changed to create the hard-light simulation, Teddy was surrounded by the location that had been described earlier. With the sentinel in an inactive position, Summers announced to the young man, "okay, Ted, show us the extent of your ability to work with the sand, how much and just how finely you can control this amount." --------------------------- (Jimmy) Hudson was concerned for his friend, being one of the members who had advocated for the Brit's drafting into the team, Jimmy realized that this would reflect on both of them. He had faith in the boy, but fighting a sentinel was a big ticket item. The feral had a tough time taking the machine on his own almost a year ago, his own power set wasn't the very best to take a giant robot solo, but Ted would probably have a considerably better chance to accomplish this. Still, typical protocol was that if a New Mutant petitioned for a new member they worked together in a unique simulation designed for multiple participants. However, Cyclops insisted the boy do it alone, and Jimmy couldn't do much to convince the stick in the mud otherwise.

Tremble sighed once more and nodded as Prof. Summers went offer the instructions. He liked the instructor. Well he liked all his instructors, but Cyclops was one who was very too the point about things. While Prof. McCoy had an interesting way with words and Prof. Munroe had a regality with hers, Scott didn't beat around the bush. He hoped if he was approved, he could work in the field with the man one day.
The simulation begin and it wasn't long before the Sentinel showed up. Theodore was a bit nervous at the site and most would be, but he knew this was the big test. If he failed, it would be some time before he could try again. He looked about the area. Almost everything there could be controlled by him- the rocks, the dirt and sand, and of course the earth they were standing on. Pondering, he came up with a three part plan:
First, seeing the Sentinel take aim, he decided to throw off the being's vision. Using his telekinetic ability, he had dirt and sand rise up in a small "storm" of sorts and blind the Sentinel. Teddy knew his foe would only be thrown off until its other sensory areas picked up its target. On to step two...
Second, he took the Sentinel off balance. Concentrating, he caused the ground to shake below the Sentinel. He caused the seismic activity to grow stronger until the Sentinel finally tumbled over... fortunately away from the student. Quickness was not one of Teddy's strong points. Now for the finale...
Third, Teddy looked up to the boulders at the top of the canyon. Concentrating again, he had the boulders roll off and tumble down on the fallen enemy. Coming from a high point, the force of the falling rocks smashed into the Sentinel, destroying it. Teddy smiled at this. He hope Prof. Summers approved because for the first time ever, he felt like he could truly use his powers to help others as opposed to harm them.

(Cyclops) Scott couldn't help but smile at Theodore's performance today, before the sentinel hardly had an opportunity to respond, the boy had managed to effectively turn the machine into an oversized tin can in a more than satisfactory amount of time. Pressing the button, Cyclops announced into the room, "very good Tremble, welcome to the team" with a tone of finality. Walking away at this point, Summers had some other business to attend to and would leave the boy to his own designs.
