The shoppers at the famed Tiffany's Jewelry Store were going about their shopping, buying gifts or treating themselves after a raise at work. Things were pretty normal until they heard the thunderous sounds... and then felt the ground shake. Before they knew it, a wall had been destroyed and the store was paid a visit by Doc Ock.
"Pardon my intrusion, ladies and gentlemen," he said with his cool, cocky voice and with a smirk on his face as one of his tentacles placed his sunglasses on his face. "But you see I've recently decided to go back into business and I need a little financial support to help me along the way."
Doc Ock then had another tentacle smash over the register and grab the hefty amount of cash inside. Another register followed, then another. A brave guard tried to stop the mad doctor, but a third tentacle grabbed him and tossed him into the wall like a child's doll. Once the cash was taken, Doc Ock gave the people inside a mock salute.
"I thank you for your generosity," he said. "Enjoy the rest of your day."
As he left the store, he saw the police arrive and take aim at him. He seemed to fear this very little.
"Ah, the inevitable confrontation with the authorities," he sighed. He then used a tentacle to grab a nearby woman. Lifting her near him, he turned back to the police. "A bargain, officers; permit me an uninterrupted escape or live with this guilt of this woman's blood on your hands." He then used his tentacles to climb to the top of the building. Once he was up high enough, he turned to the woman. "I trust there is someone below with enough intellect to be on the ready to catch you. Good day, Miss." And with that, he dropped the screaming woman before continuing his escape.

Every day it was something, be it a robbery, a supercriminal threat, or something with Doc Ock. Today, it was just Peter's luck that it'd have to be all 3. As he swung through the beautiful New York skyline, taking one of his stints of "me time" from the rest of the Young Avengers, Spiderman was taking his chance to get in at least one patrol without having to listen to Nova's being an idiot or Patriot hounding him about how the team was being run.
These little breaks were nice, but it was cut short by the scream of a woman. Quickly rounding the corner of a building, he bore witness to the sight of Octavius's latest little excursion. Robbing Tiffany's? Well, it was at least unique, not the 8 billionth time that a bank had been robbed by a super baddie at least.
First thing first, he had to save that woman. Swinging wouldn't be fast enough, so he'd have to improvise with one of his little tricks he picked up from falling off of the helicarrier every day after dismissal. As the swing arch he was in the middle of went past the mid-point, it allowed the wall-crawler to do some wall-running instead, adhering his feet to the surface a building-side and taking a full sprint. After picking up some additional velocity the young man took a hard leap from the wall and took a dive towards the woman.
For a few moments there, it didn't look like he was going to be able to pull off the rescue. But about 3/4 of the way to the ground, Spiderman, managed to intercept her trajectory with his own and catch her. After putting his strong arm around the woman's middle and fired a cord of webbing onto a nearby building. The bottom of his swing nearly made their feet brush the ground and go back up. Taking time to place the woman in a safe spot nearby, he said, "here ya go mam, tip your valet," and immediately slingshot-ted his way back towards Doc Ock and shouted, "hey, eight-arms! Pick on someone your own size!" Aiming a kick at the man, intending to knock him and his grip loose of the building.

The kick worked, albeit briefly. Doc Ock lost his grip, but his two of his tentacles were quick to latch back on. The other two prepared for battle with Spiderman. Otto grinned at his foe, almost relishing a new battle. He had defeated Spiderman in the past and could again.
"I might have guessed that you would swing your webs my way as soon as I decided to set up shop again," said Otto. "And since I bank on my guesses being correct, I made preparations for out encounter. I'm sure you remember my old friends, Spiderman. They're just as eager to see you again as I am." Otto then grabbed a remote and pressed it.
Suddenly, from behind the building that housed Tiffany's, a small army of Octo-Bots appeared and fired at the Arachnid. Doc Ock used the distraction to make his way to the roof of another building. There, he watched for a moment and decided to put a final word in.
"Enjoy your play, Spiderman," he said. "If you have the energy and granted life continuation to catch up with me, I'll be at the old lab." And with that, Doc Ock turned to make his escape again while the Octo-Bots did their work.

It was only natural that his initial strike wouldn't completely be the end all of the confrontation. Fights between Spiderman and the bad Doctor never ended that quickly, and this one wouldn't seem to be any kind of exception. After finishing his martial assault on the scientist, he landed firmly on the wall, and turned to face his opponent. As the young man spun around he was just in time to see Octavius begin to move again.
No sooner had the Doc told him where part two of the battle would be did he get a closed claw to the face. His Spider-Sense had been at a low buzz ever since the fight began, but he had figured it was because of his main foe, and not what may or may not have come along.
The force of the blow knocking him loose from the building-side, resulting in a free-fall which lasted about three stories before the dazed hero was able to resume combat. Quickly, Spiderman aimed his shooters at the nearest of the three Octo-Bots and fired on the machine. His web sticking to the metal surface, and gave something to cease the descent as it stretched until it reached the maximum that the elasticity of the compound would permit.
Within seconds, the web responsively snapped back from the stretched form and launched him upwards. While rising towards his foes, Spiderman clenched his fist and performed an upper-cut the moment he passed a foe, shouting, "SHORYUKEN!!" in jest. The force of the blow blasted the robot to pieces that then showered down onto the streets.
Landing on the wall once more, the wall-crawler wasted no time firing two massive globs of web fluid towards the remaining Octo-Bots. One for each, the material wouldn't hold them long, but would do the job for just long enough. Seizing the brief opportunity to fire two of the thickest ropes that his shooters could manage towards one of the machines and entangled it.
Yanking forcefully on the new rope he had created, the Octo-Bot was removed from the building and began swinging like a pendulum. As the robot swung, it crashed into the other, and knocked them bot into a position in which gaining new footing was impossible. The two then fell into an unoccupied portion of the street and made the familiar sounds of metal caving in.
---------------------
Not long after, Peter approached the entrance to the rogue's lab, and stopped briefly to think of whether or not he should continue. It was likely best to curb his foe's actions as soon as possible so that fewer people would be harmed as a result of the mad-man's actions.

Doc Ock was no idiot, and he was not one to deny how strong and resourceful one like Spiderman was. The Octo-Bots were old models and were only needed to buy their master time, not finish off Spiderman. No, he had something far more sweet for that, something the money he had been stealing would pay for. But he needed Spiderman in his lab now. He needed something from his foe, something Spidey would not even realize he was giving the criminal.
Checking his security footage, Doc Ock looked about to see if Spiderman had arrived yet. Cameras were all over the lab to check every nook and cranny. Once Doc Ock spotted him, he got on the intercom.
"No need for a surprise entrance, Spiderman," he said. "Don't you think with all the battles we've had here that I wouldn't take the necessary measures to know you are coming? Why not be a more civil guest and simply walk in? I promise you I only want to have a gentleman's chat. We can leave the fist-to-cuffs for another day."
Doc Ock then prepared an analyzer for when Spiderman did arrive. It would be harmless to the Arachnid hero, but what was analyzed would be valuable to Octavius. And when the chat was over, Doc Ock would see to it that he could successfully part from Spiderman for the time being. The final battle for the wall-crawler had yet to come.

The up front and direct approach. Familiar, usually worked, but it probably wasn't the absolute BEST approach to handling Ock. In many of their fights before, there was some type of factor that had tilted it in one, or the other's, favor to create a favorable situation for one. Ock had certainly kicked Spiderman around on a couple of occasions, but conversely, the wall-crawler had won many more of their confrontations with more ease. Of course the other Young Avengers had been present to make the fight much easier.
Entering the lab, Spiderman took in all of the astounding technology. It wasn't surprising, after all, Ock was still one of the most brilliant minds the world had ever seen, and hence what he was working on would still be some of the most cutting edge of the cutting edge.
"So I'm guessing you didn't invite me over for a birthday party, there's no cake." The young man said as he walked in, muscles still tense and ready for action. Whatever Ock had in mind couldn't have been good, but was it ever?
Beforehand, Spiderman had called in some of the other Young Avengers for back-up. It would be a little while before they got there, the ones he called didn't know the city quite as well as Spidey did, and considering that he'd been here almost a million times, it would probably take them even longer to find the rather inconspicuous building. Huh, thinking about it a bit further, Jameson would have a field day if he knew that Spiderman was just dropping in to have a "gentleman's chat" with the Doc.

"Yes, I'm afraid there's no cake for you, my adversary," said Doc Ock. "However, I was about to enjoy an afternoon tea. You're welcome to join me, though I doubt you will." While he spoke, the analyzer did its work on Spiderman, gathering all the info Ock needed on Spiderman's genetic structure. Again, the beam would be unseen, not felt, and completely harmless, therefore unable to set off Spiderman's Spidey-Sense. Otto had covered all the bases. Still, he had other plans for Spiderman.
"I wanted you to come in here because I have a proposition for you," he said. "A fight to the finish... one-on-one in a location far from the main populace. I think that will satisfy your hero's desire to ensure the safety of the public. I set the time and you set the place. Winner take all as they say."
Ock then moved closer and smirked.
"I know what you're thinking," he said. "Why wait? Why not take me down now? Well..." He then showed an image on the screen behind him. An Octo-Bot had attached itself to the Brooklyn Bridge. "Attached to that Octo-Bot is a highly explosive charge. As of now, there is just enough time for you to save those people... and for me to move to my alternate location. So, do you accept my proposal? Three days from now at 6pm sharp, location of your choice."

Peter REALLY hated when Doc had all the cards like this. It wouldn't have surprised the teen hero that Octavius was scanning his DNA at that precise moment, though the analysis process itself made it impossible for the hero to really discern this. Whatever plots the doctor had in store for his genetic coding this time could NOT be good.
The idea of the fight seemed sketchy to the hero, it seemed almost TOO straight-forward for the villain's style, who usually preferred some type of nefarious plot to actually getting his tentacles dirty. "No tricks? No sudden changing your mind, or bringing along a hostage in case you lose?" All these things he brought up weren't necessarily in Ock's M.O. but they were certainly dirty tricks that came to mind when Peter thought of people LIKE his foe.
His hands were kind of tied here, It took only a very brief moment for a location to pop up in his head. "The Slide Mountain forests, near Kingston, that good enough for you?" After making this parting remark, Spiderman shot a ball of webbing as a small rock to shatter a nearby window and immediately fired a follow-up line through the newly-made portal.
Yanking firmly on the chord to propel himself through a combination of physical strength and the elasticity of the rope. Flying through the air now, Spiderman quickly made his way to the bridge, booking it the entire distance to Brooklyn. It was approximately six minutes before the hero reached the bridge and landed near the Octo-bot.
"Not enough time to disarm it," the hero muttered to himself as he grabbed the sides of the machine and began to pull with all his might on it, "but I can still try this!" With a giant heave that displayed the upper levels of the wall-crawler's physical prowess. Immediately spinning on his heels, much like that of a red plumber when handling his koopa foe, his momentum from spinning generated enough force that upon release flung the piece of machinery high into the air.
Several moments after he released it, as the weapon was still traveling upwards in its flight arch, it detonated and sent a large shockwave. The shockwave's power was considerable, enough to shake the bridge from the large distance between the center point of the explosion and the structure itself.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Parker plopped onto his back and muttered to himself, "my arms are sore...."

Doc Ock grinned when Spidey accepted his proposal. Not only did Otto have all the cards in his favor, but he knew how to play them as well. he always did. Ever since the accident that made his Dr. Octopus, he learned that life was too short for overly-risky gambles.
"No tricks, like a said... a one-on-one encounter," said Doc Ock. "And the forests sound perfect. I'll see you then. Now, on your way to play hero again."
Between that time and the time of the battle, Doc Ock went to work, using the funds he had stolen and the info he had received on Spiderman. He knew all of the money and work would pay off, and that what he had in store for the battle would vanquish his arachnid foe once and for all. Just hours before it was time for the fight, the work was done. With a wicked chuckle, Otto stood back and looked over his creation. It was beautiful. And he knew just from looking at it that this would be the thing that would finally accomplish what he and many of his peers had been trying to for some time now... end Spiderman!
Come the day of the battle, Otto awaited his nemesis. Somewhere back in the forest, so did his creation. When Spiderman was to arrive, Otto would have a revealing message for him- a twist instead of a trick.
"I said it would be an one-on-one encounter, Spiderman," he said. "I never said it would be a one-on-one encounter with me."
(The creation will be described in my next post)

Peter had been prepping beforehand for the encounter. There was no telling what would happen, and Parker wasn't quite willing to trust Ock to stick strictly to his word. So he made several back-up cartridges of high-strength webbing that would let him bind the scientist for at least a little longer than normally. He had fought the man before and knew how his foe moved, but there was still the chance that he may be defeated, even with this taken into account, Spiderman still didn't tell the team about the fight. The thing that separated the heroes from the evil-doers was keeping to their word.
So was it a surprise that Otto had come up with some new way of barely skirting by when it came time for the true confrontation. "Wow Octavius, I'm SO shocked that you're ducking out of fighting me straight up yet AGAIN!" Using the very standard sarcasm tone to convey just how very unsurprised he was. Quickly taking to the tree-tops with a hop half-way up the tree trunk itself, kicking off, and darting among the leaves themselves. This effectively hid him from plain view and allowed him to sprint along the branches towards his opponent. This caused no small amount of rustling leaves through the speedy motion.
The plan would be to take this one down with as much quickness as possible, then move on to catching Doc Ock and smack him around until the cows came home. Not in a brutal way, by any means, but it would certainly make the teen hero feel better to smack around his most annoying foe for a while.

The thing was... Otto was confident that if he wanted to, he could beat Spiderman in a fight. After all, he had in their very first encounter (going off canon). But Ock also believed that if there was an alternative to him resorting to fist-to-cuffs himself, he would use it. After all, he had put so much time and effort into his new plaything. And speaking of, the creature appeared to face off with Spidey. The robot resembled Spiderman, only it's suit was black and silver, and like Otto it had four additional mechanical arms. The mad Doc also controlled those as well. The creature shot a web at a tree and moved closer to Spiderman.
"I'd like to introduce a new friend, Spiderman," he said. "Once I've worked on for a great deal of time, though was delayed by my recent stay in prison thanks to you. But with the money from Tiffany's, I was able to acquire the parts to finish him off. Spiderman, I give you your demise... The Octo-Spider!" The creature then went to work, attempting to carry out the one simple command Otto had given it.... kill Spiderman. He charged first, going to for a combo of strength and speed to attempt to get the first shot in.
"I'm afraid I haven't been completely honest with you, Spiderman," said Otto. "I also invited you into my lab to get a complete scan of your advanced genetic make-up. I made an artificial copy of it and inserted it into the Octo-Spider. It matches you in speed, strength, and agility. Fortunately, it doesn't match you in personality." Otto chuckled a bit at this.

The mechanized facsimile was impressive to say the least, a recreation that was much like the symbiote, but this time lacking the organic factor that made the creation uncontrollable. As he moved with astounding agility through the tree, he could hear the pursuit and decided that the robot would need to be taken down first and foremost.
Immediately spinning around, and taking what could only be described as a potshot. Shooting a large bullet of webbing that would punch a hole through the leaves, and propelling at the location that the hero estimated. The web bullet would pretty much burst on contact when it hit something more solid, and, pretty much "splash" across the surface of said object.
Not waiting to see if he hit the robot, Spiderman, immediately followed up with firing a rope of web to a nearby branch and swinging out of the leaf-cover. Scanning for his foe, it wasn't long before he located the target and fired a new cord. Attaching himself to the trunk of a tree next to the opposing wall-crawler and yanking with all his power. Flung forward at an intense speed, Spiderman aimed a torpedo-kick, both his legs forward whilst flying through the air, and attempted to strike the enemy in the chest.

The Octo-Spider took a licking and kept on ticking as the saying went. Doc Ock forgot to mention that it also had advanced durability. He figured his long time foe would figure that out for himself. The Octo-Spider turned to Spiderman after the assault and extended two of the tentacles in an effort to strangle the arachnid hero.
"As you can see Spiderman, while he shares many of your abilities, he's a chip off the old block when he comes to his creator," said Otto. "But I stand by my promise. You defeat the Octo-Spider, you win the war and I'm out of your hair for good... given you have hair under that mask. But if it defeats you... well you won't really be aware of the consequences of your loss considering said loss will mean your extermination. Either way, I move on. Our little rivalry has been fun, Spiderman, but I have more important matters to attend to these days. I'd like to explain what those matters are, but you're a bit too busy for conversation at the moment."
In Otto's ranting, he had made one critical error. He would now have to hope that Spiderman didn't pick up on it and use it to his advantage. The mad doctor had said that the Octo-Spider had everything that Spiderman had... except Spiderman's personality. This meant that, in a sense, it could not think like Spiderman did. With this revelation now hitting him, Doc Ock found it wise to keep his mouth shut until the battle came to an end.

After completing the kick, Spiderman ricocheted off of the metal surface of the Octo-Spider and landed on the bark-covered surface of a nearby tree. Glaring towards the robot, he saw the claws of the two tentacles dart towards his neck, prompting him to match them with his own hands. Gripping as hard as he possibly could, the metal of the appendages started to groan from the stress.
This was important in telling the wall-crawler that his opponent wasn't quite as strong as Doc in the material department, and an idea dawned on him, one concerning how to handle the opponent.
Forcefully yanking on his enemy and pulling it into the air, and following with a forceful heave to the side that flung the robot to the side. The robot began tethering around the tree like the ball that shared the name, and looped several times, before crashing into the tree's trunk forcefully.
Putting his fist into the machine's shoulder, making a shattering sound under the strike, and followed in with a similar barrage of blows aimed at his head and shoulder area. The intent here was to disable whatever chip or other thing that made the thing process information so that it would at least become incapacitated.

Doc Ock couldn't help but smile as he watched Spiderman expend his energy on the robot. he had worked far too hard on it for it to be some minor obstacle to the hero. While the machine was indeed taking a pounding, it was also preparing its back-up reserves. With Spiderman pounding it into seeming defeat, the creature suddenly extended its four extra arms and wrapped them around its foe like four vicious pythons. And like those large snakes, they began to squeeze, intent on crushing his body. And with Spiderman seemingly about to face his doom, Doc Ock decided to say a few words again. He believed that his enemy could do nothing now to prevent the inevitable.
"You should know by now, Spiderman, that I am not in the business of making cheap toys," he said. "The durability of my machine is far advanced to your own. You can pound on it all you want, but it will keep coming at you until it's reduced to scrap metal... and I highly doubt it would allow you to beat it down to that. But for now, I must leave you to your fate, Spiderman. I have a meeting to attend later, and am being paid far too well to miss it. Good-bye, old friend. My rivalry with you has been most entertaining and dare I say it, a bit enlightening. But all joyous things must come to an end."
And with that, Doc Ock departed. However, little did he know that Spiderman's poundings had done some good. A blinking control device near the high was exposed just enough to be noticed.
(You can wrap up the thread by finishing the Octo-Spider off here.)
